piano, cello

Tyler Faulkner

Tyler graduated from Harrison School for the Arts. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Piano Performance with a focus in composition from the University of South Florida!

Tyler’s musical journey started at the ripe age of 3, singing "Purple Rain" in his father’s band, a memory he is quite fond of. In Elementary school, Tyler began studying his first instrument, the cello. His instructor was so impressed by his development that he was invited to the Polk County Elementary Music Showcase. In middle school Tyler attended all-county strings both his 7th and 8th grade years.

Luckily his instructor noticed a rapid musical development and pushed him to receive his first private lesson on the cello in the 8th grade. Around this time, Tyler had also began teaching himself piano, creating little pieces and beginning to read sheet music.

Tyler was accepted to the prestigious Harrison School for the Arts, and began his high school career pursuing his love of music. In high school, he arranged many pieces for his peers and dabbled in music composition creating a full-length Suite and Serenade for strings. In his senior year, he was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Musicianship award, a crowning achievement of his dedication to music composition.

AREA OF FOCUS:

Tyler’s top priority is creating an open and constructive learning environment. Tyler seeks to inspire creativity and individuality by teaching his students to focus on the message or meaning behind a work. He also challenges students to listen to more unknown repertoire, as well as the classics.
