Harriet from Bradenton, Florida and continue to live there even while studying at USF in
Tampa. She is a double bass major and has been playing bass for 9 years. Her students range in age from 6-17 on several instruments.
She has been singing since before she could learn to read, publicly performing for the first time at the age of 3. However, she didn’t settle on an instrument until middle school. At this point, she immediately fell in love with the bass. A few years later, she would pick up several kinds of instruments – guitar, bass banjo, violin, viola, cello and a little bit of piano. And she never refuses to fiddle around with a new instrument!
Harriet is studying music at the University of South Florida and anticipates to graduate in 2023.
Currently, Harriet performs in the USF Symphony Orchestra, USF Symphonic Band and USF Double Bass Studio and also occasionally as a guest musician in various recitals. Outside of school, she performs on a weekly basis at church on a variety of instruments (they never know
what she’ll bring!) and in community ensembles as needed.
On teaching: "Simply put, I like seeing students improve and become more satisfied with their performance. Whether they advance super quickly or slow and steady, I like seeing them get better, discover their styles and enjoy helping them bring their creative vision to life!"
