She continued with voice and piano lessons throughout her childhood and young adult life, along with studying tap and jazz dance. In high school, Krysten participated in Solo and Ensemble competitions, and was a member of the Ambassadors (Show/Chamber choir), Advanced Ladies choir, Concert choir, and was accepted into FL All State choirs. She was also a member of the Thespians Society, and participated in Individual Events, One Acts, and competed at the FL State Thespian Festivals. In college, she shifted her focus to opera, where she performed as both ensemble and lead in various operas, and competed in the “National Association of Teachers of Singing”  (aka NATS) state competitions, receiving both 1st and 2nd place honors.

Krysten also plays an active administrative role in the studio, as the Operations Manager of the Barrett School of Music. She helps keep the studio running! Under the guidance of Laura Hollis, Krysten has taken over the hiring and training of new teachers, planning of studio events and camps, invoice processing, social media management, and so much more!

"I'm grateful to have the opportunity to learn about the business side of music teaching. As musicians, a lot of us don't learn about marketing, business administration, financing, etc. Starting my career at BSM has been a wonderful educational experience and I'm so excited for what's to come!"

Classical Vocal Technique, Audition Prep, Musical Theater, Artistic Expression

Krysten’s main goal with her students is to spark an excitement for music. She aims to inspire her students to become both dedicated musicians and passionate performers. She enjoys talking with students about the meaning a motivation behind their pieces, encouraging them to both research the composer and/or show and also develop their own interpretations.
