Krysten is a Tampa native, and graduated from Bloomingdale Senior High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Montevallo, in Montevallo, AL.
Krysten began taking piano and voice lessons at age 7, after participating in her first musical. Since then, she has rarely left the stage. She continued with voice and piano lessons throughout her childhood and young adult life, along with studying tap and jazz dance. In high school, Krysten participated in Solo and Ensemble competitions, and was a member of the Ambassadors (Show/Chamber choir), Advanced Ladies choir, Concert choir, and was accepted into FL All State choirs. She was also a member of the Thespians Society, and participated in Individual Events, One Acts, and competed at the FL State Thespian Festivals. In college, she shifted her focus to opera, where she performed as both ensemble and lead in various operas, and competed in the “National Association of Teachers of Singing” (aka NATS) state competitions, receiving both 1st and 2nd place honors.
Krysten also plays an active administrative role in the studio, as the Operations Manager of the Barrett School of Music. She helps keep the studio running! Under the guidance of Laura Hollis, Krysten has taken over the hiring and training of new teachers, planning of studio events and camps, invoice processing, social media management, and so much more!
