Maddy Klee

A St. Petersburg, FL native, Maddy began playing violin in the third grade. After attending public arts schools in Pinellas County and studying theatre, Maddy earned a B.A. in Music with a minor in English Literature at the Florida State University. Maddy also holds a M.M. in Violin Performance and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Musicology at the University of North Carolina at Greensbor. Currently, she is a graduate assistant at the University of South Florida where she is pursuing a second M.M. in Chamber Music Performance.

Maddy has performed in solo masterclasses with Caroline Goulding and Shannon Thomas, as well as in chamber masterclasses with the Beo String Quartet and Attacca String Quartet. She has spent her summers playing with festivals such as the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Varna International Music Festival in Vienna, Austria and Northern Italy, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and the Brevard Music Center, where she was also a Resident Assistant in 2018. During her time at Florida State University, Maddy enjoyed playing with regional orchestras in the North Florida/South Georgia area, including the Panama City Pops Orchestra and Albany Symphony Orchestra. During her time in Greensboro, NC, she performed with the Greensboro Opera, Wilmington Symphony, the University Symphony Orchestra, and with the graduate student/faculty chamber ensemble, Gate City Camerata, with whom she served as principal second violin in a concert with acclaimed cellist Lynn Harrell in the spring of 2018. Maddy led as concertmaster of the University of South Florida Symphony Orchestra last fall and continued in the role this past spring.

Maddy began taking violin lessons with the Suzuki method, and she continues to use its philosophy in her own practice and methodology in her teaching. Maddy seeks to create an environment that is welcoming for everyone, where students can feel safe and comfortable. She is dedicated to guiding her students through their present goals while also helping them realize new aspirations, all while developing and maintaining a healthy relationship with music and the violin. Maddy completed Suzuki's Every Child Can course in 2016 and participated in Mimi Zweig's Summer String Retreat for Violin and Viola Teachers in 2019.
