Voice, Piano, Beginner Guitar
Chelsea has been singing and making music since she was just 3 years old , and hasn’t stopped since. A lover of all things Disney, music runs through her veins as she shares her passion for it with her elementary students at the school where she has taught the past 4 years. She graduated from the University of Tampa in 2012, with a Bachelor of Music Education. She previously graduated from H.W. Blake High School for the Arts with a Choral major, and was a heavy participant in extracurricular choirs in school. She studied with both Dr. Hein Jung and Gretchen Geist at UT, making her a disciplined vocalist.
Started Music Career:
Starting as a piano student under direction of the late Elba Ruilova of West Tampa, Chelsea took lessons and performed at many Friday Morning Musicale recitals to break through her nervous energy and stage fright. After a small break from piano, voice lessons were what she wanted to continue with next. Joining her elementary school choir, choosing chorus in the wheel in middle school, and studying music seriously (thanks to a push by her choir director, Chase White) at H.W. Blake High School, singing enveloped her as a path to profession.
Chelsea graduated from the University of Tampa in 2012
Areas of Focus:
Opera (Classical training) & Voice; Stage Presence; Beginner Piano; Beginner Guitar & Ukulele; Music Theory
Favorite Aspect of Teaching:
Seeing a student finally make the connection that was missing before, to successfully master a technique or challenging part of their performance or specific part of the music. Chelsea loves to make connections in her students’ lessons not only to the music theory, but also WHY and HOW things are happening, and how it connects to their physical practice. The voice, especially, is such a personal instrument, and it makes sense to find a personal and physical connection for better mastery.
Chelsea is a dedicated member of her church choir of over 15 years, and has been a member of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. She has been a guest performer and soloist with multiple choirs within the Tampa Bay area.
