Started Music Career:
At an early age, Sam was introduced to Blues, R&B Soul, and Gospel through her family of instrumental musicians. As she reflects, music jam sessions on the weekend were a time to come together. Plus it was a space to learn the music history behind each artist and their works. Around age 7, Sam fell in love with watching marching bands perform in parades. So she watched them on t.v. and around the Pine Belt area. With persuasion from her father and Kenny G’s melodious sounds, Sam began saxophone lessons. Then she joined band in the 6th grade. By high school she placed first chair in most ensembles and competitions. Exploring other areas of music, Sam decided in 10th grade to march baritone. In addition, she joined the newly established show choir.
After high school, her talents afforded her the opportunity to travel and a full ride college scholarship. Sam became a Music Educator after she received her Bachelor’s degree. Also she taught K-12 Music in public schools for five years.

Favorite Aspect of Teaching:
Music can open unimaginable doors. And Sam loves to create these opportunities for students. That may mean a scholarship to a prestigious college. Maybe it’s traveling across the country to perform. Regardless, there’s no limit to your potential success and achievements. Additionally, the relationships that are formed and the growth over the years of study are memories that she’ll continue to make with her students. Sam’s passion is certainly educating students through music!
