Steve grew up in a military family and was exposed to the music and cultures of several countries as a child. He started playing guitar and trumpet in the 3rd grade and was hired to teach guitar at Paragon music in Tampa while still a teenager. His next teaching position was as a music professor at the University of Tampa teaching private guitar lessons and ensembles for college credit.
Started music Career:
Steve has been performing as a professional musician since he graduated Chamberlain High School in Tampa and hasn’t gone more than a few days without performing professionally since.
Area of focus:
Steve teaches all levels, styles, and ages. His lessons include learning songs, technique, getting a good sound, ear training, music theory, and reading music among other aspects of being a well rounded and versatile musician.
Favorite aspect of teaching:
It is rewarding to see students progress and meet their musical goals.
Steve studied Jazz Guitar at the Berklee College of music in Boston and has studied privately with some of the best Classical and Jazz guitarists in the world including Steve Khan, Larry Coryell, Bruce Saunders, Mike Stern, and Bill Hoff.
Steve’s performance experience includes tours, musical theater runs, cruise ship musician, amusement park guitarist/vocalist, weddings, restaurants and more. He has performed in several countries and worked with many of the best musicians from around the world. Currently, Steve has moved back to Tampa after a few years in NYC and is employed by USF and by a local church where he plays three services a week. You can also see Steve performing a few shows every month around Tampa and its surrounding areas.
