Mateo Valdes is a dedicated violinist whose musical journey began at the age of five with Dr. Catherine Michelsen and the Suzuki method. He has attended music camps, including the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, and participated in several orchestras, including TMYO and the University of Tampa. He was selected three years in row to participate in the Super Strings Program under the baton of Itzhak Perlman. He is currently a student at Blake High School, a Performing & Visual Arts Magnet School, in the Orchestra Department under the direction of Mr. Jason Jerald. Mateo’s work has earned him a spot in the Florida All-State Orchestra two years in a row (2022-2024). As his passion evolves Mateo is exploring classical and jazz with Lemay James and music composition and Logic Pro with Anthony Rice. He is also working with Dr. Mary-Elizabeth Brown, founder of the Aviva Young Artists Program. Mateo is now looking for teaching opportunities and he is excited to share his knowledge and experience with other students.
