Charles Bub

Charles (Charlie) Bub is a third-year music education major at the University of Tampa with a degree from Schenectady County Community College (AS) in the Performing Arts for Music. He has experience playing many musical genres, primarily jazz and classical music on the saxophone and clarinet. He has performed in ensembles such as Area All-State, All County, and was an Alternate for the All-State jazz band in New York, as well as the tenor saxophonist in the 2023 FMEA Intercollegiate Band. Currently, he is the first-chair alto saxophonist in the Department of Music’s Wind and Jazz Ensembles. He has been taking private lessons on alto saxophone for 3 years and is otherwise self-taught. This past summer, he became certified in his first level of the Kodaly Philosophy Program at NYU, which he plans to attend the next two summers to achieve "Level 3" status. Other than obtaining a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tampa, he plans on continuing to get his master’s, and eventually doctoral degrees in performance.
