I was born in the vibrant musical city of Matanzas, Cuba, where I grew up surrounded by a rich and diverse musical culture. My early passion for music was deeply influenced by my uncle, a symphonic violinist, who inspired my love for classical repertoire—especially the violin. At the same time, my home and community were filled with the sounds of Cuba’s traditional genres, including bolero, guaracha, son, contra, and trova, which shaped my musical identity from a young age. I was accepted into the National Music School in Havana, where I had the privilege of studying with some of Cuba’s most distinguished teachers, as well as visiting artists from around the world. This formative training laid the foundation for my professional career.
I later joined the Matanzas Symphony Orchestra, where I advanced to the position of Concertmaster, a role I held for 20 years. During this time, I collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Michel Legrand, Mincho Minchev, Igor Oistrak, Claudio Abado, etc, with the orchestra and in chamber settings. I also performed as a soloist in cities including Niterói and Brasília (Brazil), Oviedo (Spain), and Graz (Austria), experiences that broadened my artistic perspective and deepened my connection to global audiences. While my days were dedicated to orchestral performance, my evenings often led me to Varadero Beach, where I performed with various bands across a wide range of popular music styles. This balance between classical and popular music enriched my versatility as a musician.
After leaving Cuba, I continued my journey in Mexico before settling in the United States. I spent several years in Florida and later established myself in Atlanta, where I served as Principal Second Violinist with the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra. In addition to my classical work, I have performed extensively in popular and Latin genres with groups such as CubanaSong, the Quarantine Quartet, and in duo collaborations with multi-instrumentalist Mick Kinney. Alongside my performing career, I am deeply committed to teaching. I believe in meeting each student where they are and guiding them toward their individual goals with patience and encouragement. I have extensive experience working with students of all ages and particularly enjoy working with children of diverse abilities. I am also certified in teaching children with autism, which has been a meaningful and rewarding part of my work.
