Sandor Moss

From a scholarship at That New School Jazz Program New York
City, he studied Jazz performances from 1995 to1996. From
1997 to1998 he received another scholarship to study Cuban
percussion at the National School of Art in Cuba (ENA). During
the aforementioned period, he began studying timpani and
Cuban drums with Blas Egüesand José Luis Quintana
(Changuito). In 2000, he returned to New York to record a jazz
album with Frank Lowe and Billy Bang. In 2001, he returned to
San Francisco, California and was part of the group Tito y su Son
de Cuba for 10 years. Later, in 2011 he created his own group
Sandor y su mechanica together with the singer-songwriter
Fito Reinoso (winner of a Grammy). In 2014, he recorded an
album with Fito titled “La rum ballama”. As a member of the
group Las Pirámides and under the direction of Idris Ackamoor,
he toured two different countries in Europe in 2016 and 2017
(Holland, France, Germany, England, Scotland, Sweden,
Denmark and Norway). In 2018, he returned to Cuba to perfect
his timpani studies with maestro José Luis Quintana and
Roelvis Reyes (Bom bón Reyes belonging to the group Puppy y
los que Son). In this same year, he began studying the
Cuban Tresasa string instrument with Hany Quiñones and
maestro Cotó. At the end of 2021, he moved to Costa Rica where
he resides to this day. In 2022, he visited Cuba on different
occasionsand continued studying tres with Miguel Ñanga (el
changüí) and teacher Ladisbel Sarmiento.
